Bid to get good returns: WGC Wealth

India-based ultra high net worth individuals (UHNIs) and high net worth individuals (HNIs) are showing a keen interest to invest offshore as they can get attractive returns, said a top official.

"Investments by UHNIs and HNIs in offshore are catching up," said Atul Singh, CEO, WGC Wealth.

Simple operation

"They are looking for offshore funds and need hand-holding.

"That's where we step in. It is easy as the investments go through the official banking channel. Even redemption or liquidation is simple," he added.

Quoting RBI figures, he said in the last three years, investments by UHNIs and HNIs through liberalised remittance scheme had grown from $1.5 billion to $12 billion.

WGC Wealth, an arm of Wadhawan Global Capital, forayed into wealth management to provide financial advisory services in investments, lending, succession planning, and protection services for investors (insurance) to UHNIs and HNIs.

In the last three months, WGC Wealth had assets under management of ₹1,000 crore of which south accounted for 50%.

UHNIs and HNIs have started looking for productive form of savings to deploy their investment instead of investing money in real estate, he added. "The shift is beginning to happen and it would stay for some more decades. Apart from metros, we are also focusing on tier-II cities."

"Technology is uplifting the scope of wealth creation in the country and wealth managers, too, have been steadily adapting to the changing times, thereby ushering in a 'WealthTech' era. Empowered by technology and the new face of wealth management, WealthTech is the solution to the increasing needs of HNWIs and emerging HNWIs in the country," he said..
